For service and repairs of the Neutral Safety Switch on Automatic Transaxle 31TH, first disconnect the switch, then allow any fluid that leaks to empty into a container. Set the selector lever to Park and then to Neutral, watching to see that the working levers in the switch are aligned with the switch opening. After that, place the new-seal switch into the transaxle case, tightening it to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.) and testing it with the test lamp again. Fill the transaxle with fluid to bring the level to the right point. The back up lamp switch connects the terminals outside of the 3-terminal switch. To try out the switch, cut off the wiring connector and test for continuity between the outer pins; only Reverse should create a path between them and the case should have no connection to either of them.
