  Before handling the left forward lateral link, lift the vehicle with jackstands or on a frame contact hoist and then remove the left rear wheel and tire assembly. Take off the bolt holding the left lateral links to the spindle and next, get rid of the nut hosting the left front lateral link to the rear suspension crossmember, leaving the bolt in the lateral link for now. Remember to have the indirect link bolt face rearward and the left rear lateral arm bolt should be attached pointing forward to cover the fuel filler tube. Then, take out the screw on the left brake tube and the four bolts fastening the remaining stabilizer bar isolator bushing retainers to the frame rails, so that the stabilizer bar hangs down. With the screw loose from under the left frame rail, place a transmission jack beneath the fuel tank and detach all attaching bolts for the fuel tank straps, starting at the right bolt. Lower both the transmission and fuel tank enough to be able to reach the bolt on the crossmember and then detach the removed left forward lateral link. Align the lateral link from the left with the front crossmember, insert the bolt entered from the front and secure the attaching nut without tightening so that the bushings do not twist as you approach the curb. Lift the fuel tank into the desired place, fasten it with the tank straps again and take out the transmission jack. Secure the Fuel Filler Neck attaching screw into the left frame rail and tighten it. Tighten both bushing retainers by bolting them to the frame rails-use 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) on the front bolts and 100 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) on the rear bolts. First, fasten the brake tubes to the left stabilizer bar isolator bushing retainer and then set the lateral links on the spindle, leaving the bolts and nuts loose. Place the rear wheel and tire on the vehicle and thread the wheel mounting nuts in the same order to half specification. Do this sequence again to achieve the correct torque of 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.). Set the vehicle on even ground, then fix the lateral arm to the crosstube with 85 ft. lbs. and fix the lateral arm to the spindle with 100 ft. lbs. Check the rear TOE if required and reset it to its precise setting.

  To maintain or fix the left rear and both right lateral links, raise the vehicle on jackstands or a frame contact lift and haul out the rear wheel and its tire. After that, remove the nut and bolt between the left lateral link and the spindle and the nut and bolt attaching the lateral link to the rear suspension crossmember, noticing the correct way the bolt for the lateral arm should be installed. Don't forget to install the forward-pointing lateral link bolts on the front to prevent harm to the fuel tank and the fuel tubes, but make sure the left rear arm bolt points backward to avoid damaging the fuel filler tube. Next, take out the lateral link from the crossmember, after that attach the lateral link to the crossmember, checking that all rear lateral link bolts face forward and all of the forward lateral link bolts face back. Do not screw on the attaching nut or the wheel bushing could be forced into a shape that causes it to wear out prematurely. After that, fit the other links to the spindle, but don't tighten the bolts very much yet. Once the rear wheel is in place, tighten the wheel stud nuts only halfway, following the specified order and afterward tighten all the stud nuts again to secure a full torque of 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.). Place the vehicle on the ground and attach bolt and nut to lateral arm to crossmember joint to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), then to lateral arm to spindle joint to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Now, measure the rear wheel TOE and make changes or reset it, if required.
