If you're working on the radiator drain plug, the cooling system should be drained before you start. Never remove the cylinder block plug or the radiator draincock while the system is hot and under pressure, because that may result in harmful burns from the coolant. We advise against using pliers on the draincock, because it might damage the appliance and you should only turn it off if there are leaks. Turn the draincock stem completely to the left until it points to the 9:00 o'clock position, then lift the draincock assembly out of the tank. Check the condition of the draincock body and O-ring against damage and if damage is found, replace them. Space the drain assemble horizontally so the manufacturer's mark is facing down and then push it into the tank opening as you twist it clockwise. After that, twist the draincock stem clockwise until it's vertical and then refill the cooling system.
