Prior to bleeding the valve, make certain there are no burrs left on the lock grooves and realize the place where each valve goes so they can be returned correctly. Take the valve(s) out of the cylinder head. Take any burned, warped or cracked valves off and clean the rest thoroughly. Check the valve stems by measuring 60 mm (2.36 inches) below where the valve lock grooves end and look up the rules for acceptable results, learning that chrome-plated valve stems aren't meant to be polished. Attach the valve to the cylinder head with hose, so only 15 mm (0.590 inch) is left to the valve seat to measure the clearance. Add tool C-3339 onto the cylinder head, at an angle right to the valve being measured, move the valve throughout the entire stroke and record its position as a comparison to engine specs. Alter the cylinder head if either the clearance between the stem and guide is outside specifications or the guide moves loosely in the cylinder head. Before installation, add clean engine oil to the valve stems and push them directly into the cylinder head. Should the valve tips be adjusted, make sure they are not taller than 43.65 mm (1.7185 inch) for intake or 45.98 mm (1.8102 inch) for exhaust; if they are, regind until all valves comply. Change the Valve Stem Seals, valve springs and set the cylinder head(s) then.
