Brake Caliper to the caliper adapter and finally lift the caliper off the adapter after swinging its free end away. Tie the caliper to something solid using a plastic tie strap to guard the anodized finish on the upper control arm movement. Take the brake rotor off the hub and bearing, then remove the 4 bolts that hold the hub and bearing onto the steering knuckle with the caliper adapter. Unscrew the fender bracket nuts, remove the tie rod nut and washer and hold the tie rod stud with a socket as you do so. Leave out the lower ball joint attaching nut after you remove it, then take off the nut and washer from the upper ball joint, placing Nut, Special Tool 6998-2 on the stud loosely. Remove the nut from the lower ball joint stud, then place Remover, Special Tool 6998, into position between Special Tool 6998-2 and the lower ball joint stud, keeping away from the steering knuckle. Press the threaded end of the Remover onto the ball joint stud to expel it from the steering knuckle and remove both the Remover and the Nut, Special Tool 6998-2. Secure Nut, Special Tool 69988-1 on the lower ball joint stud, after which remove Special Tool 6998. Then follow these same steps for the upper stud. Take out the steering knuckle from the control arm ball joints in the last step. To install the steering knuckle, set it over the upper and lower ball joint studs, then use a new lower ball joint nut not fully tightened. Attach the original fitting for the ball joint stud at the top and make sure the main steering part is facing you, then connect the outer tip of the rod to the steering knuckle, holding the fitting in place but not securing it. Screw the outer tie rod attaching nut to 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.) pressure. Following to that, fasten the lower ball joint attaching nut to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.) and the upper ball joint attaching nut to 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.). Secure the brake caliper adapter and hub and bearing with 4 bolts, fastened to 60 Nm (45 ft. lbs.), then install and secure the front fender and bracket with the supplied 3 nuts at 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Secure the brake rotor and disc brake caliper and tighten the caliper guide pin bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.). Reattach the wheel and tire and while doing so make the wheel mounting stud nuts 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) tight. When finished, fix the center cap, lower the car, check it on a wheel alignment machine and change the settings to meet your desired alignment values.
