During servicing or repair, one must treat the speed control switch on the
Steering Wheel which is wired through the clock spring below the
Air Bag module, with caution. Take off the air cleaner lid, detach the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and afterward, take away the negative
Battery Cable. It is important to shut off the ignition switch before handing the air bag. Take out the upper mounting screw, then position the steering wheel at 6 O'clock and unscrew the two screws on the back of the speed control switch. Connected to a cable, remove the electrical connector and take out the switch. When installing, connect the wiring, put in the switch and screw it in to a tightness of 1.6 Nm (15 in. lbs.). Be sure the rubber seal is firmly around the switch. After that, install the air bag, replace the negative battery cable and finally, fit the air cleaner lid and both sensors.
