Ignition Coil is used in Chrysler Town & Country vehicles, and works to steps up the small voltage from the battery to the level required to fire the air/fuel combination in the cylinders. This component can be considered as the interface between the primary and secondary circuits, while the primary circuit involves the battery, the switch and the triggering device and the secondary circuit implies the presence of high tension lead, distributor cap and spark plug wires. Periodically, Chrysler Town & Country vehicles have incorporated multiple kinds of ignition coils, ranging from the breaker point or electronic distributor ignition systems; the coil-on-plug systems; as well as the wasted spark systems. These coils are used to create the right voltage that is needed for making sparks and thus, right engine performances.

Chrysler Town & Country Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an Ignition Coil for a 3.3/3.8L Engine on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
First, place the ignition coil carefully over the studs on the bracket and hold it by hand, then tighten the two nuts onto the coil. After that, link the electrical connector to the ignition coil and put the ignition cables in place. Lift the Power Steering Reservoir into place and put the bracket over the mounting stud, then attach the two bolts that fasten it to the Intake Manifold. Attach the lower nut to the stud on the ignition coil bracket and then secure the negative battery cable, tightly screwing the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
  • Q: How to Service and Repair an Ignition Coil on Chrysler Town & Country?
    A:
To start any ignition coil service or repair, detach the negative battery cable beforehand. Discharge the air pressure from the throttle and speed control lines, then take out the 2 bolts at the top of the reservoir to remove it from the Intake Manifold. Screw the lower nut on the Power Steering Reservoir's stud counterclockwise and then move the reservoir slightly to the left towards you. Afterward, take out the ignition cables from the ignition coil and cut off the electrical connector. Reach in and remove the nuts on the ignition coil studs and unbolt them to remove it from the coil mount. For installation, aim the new coil over the studs on the bracket and throw a bolt through each side of the coil to secure it. After fitting the 2 nuts on the ignition coil studs, tighten the nuts together with the bolts. Plug the electrical connector into the ignition coil and fit both ends of the ignition wires into the spark plugs. Moving the power steering reservoir, place the bracket onto the mounting stud and bolts into the intake manifold. Tighten the lower nut on the stud on the ignition coil bracket, place the throttle and speed control cables into their correct slot and then reconnect the negative battery cable.
