After that, detach the retainer under the liftgate support cylinder from the pivot attached near the tailgate and remove the support cylinder. Some cars require the pivot to be removed from the liftgate if necessary. Afterwards, remove the connection between the retainer, liftgate support cylinder and pivot at the D-pillar by disengaging them. Removing the pivot from the D-pillar is necessary when error messages appear.

How to Install Liftgate Lift Support Gas Props on Chrysler Town & Country?

Once you've removed it, attach the pivot onto the liftgate and tighten it to 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). After that, place the liftgate support cylinder you are going to repair towards the liftgate and line up its retainer with the holes in the pivot, making sure the retainer fits tightly. Should the D-pillar pivot be removed, attach and secure it by turning 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). After that, place the liftgate support cylinder on the D-pillar and attach it to the pivot so the retainer does not slip. In addition, pull the lifting device out of the liftgate.
