How to Service and Repair an A/C Expansion Valve in the Rear on Chrysler Voyager?

To work on or repair the rear expansion valve, take out the rear heater-A/C unit housing from the vehicle first. Slowly unfold the foam insulator wrap around the rear expansion valve, then pull the rear evaporator line extension free of the valve. Screw out the two screws that are holding the expansion valve to the sealing plate and then pull the expansion valve from the evaporator tubes. Remove the seals from the open evaporator tube fittings and cover each of these and both expansion valve ports using shut-off plugs or tape. When installing, take the tape or plugs out of the evaporator tube connections and both parts of the expansion valve. Put a little clean refrigerant oil on new rubber O-ring seals and install them at the ends of the evaporator tubing. Sit the expansion valve on the evaporator tubes and then tighten it with the two screws at 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.) each. Reconnect the extension from the rear evaporator line to the expansion valve, put the rear insulating cover around the expansion valve and install the rear heater-A/C housing unit back into the vehicle. Always perform the HVAC Cooldown Test to verify that the system works correctly.
