How to Maintain Your Air Filter for Optimal Performance on Dodge Dakota?

Before cleaning the air filter, take the clamp off and remove the duct from the air cleaner cover. Releasing the housing cover from the locating tabs and removing it is possible after taking off the four spring clips from the housing cover. Take the air filter out of the housing and wipe out the interior before you set it back in place. For housing assembly, remove the clamp from the air cleaner cover and disconnect the air duct there, then take out the entire housing unit from the pins underneath. Install the air filter by setting it inside the housing, fitting the housing cover over the locating tabs and pinching up the four spring clips. Hook the air duct back to the air cleaner cover and tighten the clamp to 3 Nm (26 inch lbs.) torque. If other hose clamps exist on the air intake system, tighten each of them with three-newton meters (26 inch lbs.) torque. Lastly, if any bolts were taken out of the air resonator housing or air intake tubing, tighten them using a torque wrench to 4 Nm or 35 inch lbs.

How to Replace an Air Filter on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before anything else, loosen the clamp and take off the air duct at the cover of the air filter. Then, use a pry tool to remove the 4 spring clips from the housing cover that hold it to the housing and pull the cover off the locating tabs before you remove it. Take away the air filter, then clean the inside area of the housing. Position the new filter into the housing, pull the housing cover over and push its tabs into the locating slots. Hold the cover up and then press the 4 spring clips to release them and lock the cover to the housing. Match the cleaned air duct to the cover of the air filter and tighten the hose clamp to a level of 3 Nm (30 inch lbs.). If you removed any hose clamps from the air intake system, tighten them to 3.4 Nm (30 inch lbs.) and if you took out any bolts from the air resonator housing or air intake tubing, tighten them to 4.5 Nm (40 inch lbs.) torque.
