How to Remove and Install a Fuel Level Sensor from the Fuel Pump Module on Dodge Ram 1500?

Both the fuel level sending unit and the float assembly are part of the fuel pump module and can be found on its side. First, take out the fuel pump module before removing the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank. Then, holding the plastic tab in an open position, slowly slide the assembly to the back to separate the sending unit from the pump module. Undo the 4-wire connector from the fuel pump module and pull out the wires needed from this connector using a terminal pick/removal tool. To install the mixer, join the wire connections to the electrical connectors and put the 4-wire electrical connector onto the pump module. Step 2: Place the sending unit above the pump, slide and snap it and then connect the fuel pump module.

How to Service and Repair the Fuel Level Sensor on the Left Side Module on Dodge Charger?

Before working on the left side module's fuel level sensor, you must loosen the fuel pressure and remove the negative battery cable. Make sure not to let the fuel go higher than 5/8 of the tank's capacity before removing the module lock-ring. Loop a 30-inch long nylon tube with a 30-degree cut over the check valve on the tank to drain only part of the fuel. Take off the backmost lower seat cushion by pushing it back and lifting it all the way up and then fold the foam pad above the access cover for the modules back as well. Take the electrical connector off the left side module and mark how it should be placed. Loosen the left side module lock ring using special tool #9340 and then push the hose into the fuel tank from above to empty the left side fuel. Release the electrical connectors of both side fuel level sensors and lift off the top half of the module to tilt the bottom half and remove any remaining fuel. Pull the wire out of the sensor module and use a screwdriver to lift the level sensor straight up and remove it from the module. Reinstall the level sensor with the locking tabs secure, route the wires where they belong and mount the module top on top of the bottom. Secure the electrical connections from the right fuel level sensor, the left module sensor and the fuel pump and use the marks to ensure the module is facing correctly as you secure it with special tool #9340. Reattach the left side electrical connector, place the plastic access cover over it and next, fold the seat pad back and insert the lower seat cushion at the back. Fill the tank with fuel, hook the negative battery cable back up and scan the car while pushing the pressure on the fuel system to look for specific problems.

Both the fuel level sending unit and the float assembly are part of the fuel pump module and can be found on its side. First, take out the fuel pump module before removing the fuel level sensor from the fuel tank. Then, holding the plastic tab in an open position, slowly slide the assembly to the back to separate the sending unit from the pump module. Undo the 4-wire connector from the fuel pump module and pull out the wires needed from this connector using a terminal pick/removal tool. To install the mixer, join the wire connections to the electrical connectors and put the 4-wire electrical connector onto the pump module. Step 2: Place the sending unit above the pump, slide and snap it and then connect the fuel pump module.

Before working on the left side module's fuel level sensor, you must loosen the fuel pressure and remove the negative battery cable. Make sure not to let the fuel go higher than 5/8 of the tank's capacity before removing the module lock-ring. Loop a 30-inch long nylon tube with a 30-degree cut over the check valve on the tank to drain only part of the fuel. Take off the backmost lower seat cushion by pushing it back and lifting it all the way up and then fold the foam pad above the access cover for the modules back as well. Take the electrical connector off the left side module and mark how it should be placed. Loosen the left side module lock ring using special tool #9340 and then push the hose into the fuel tank from above to empty the left side fuel. Release the electrical connectors of both side fuel level sensors and lift off the top half of the module to tilt the bottom half and remove any remaining fuel. Pull the wire out of the sensor module and use a screwdriver to lift the level sensor straight up and remove it from the module. Reinstall the level sensor with the locking tabs secure, route the wires where they belong and mount the module top on top of the bottom. Secure the electrical connections from the right fuel level sensor, the left module sensor and the fuel pump and use the marks to ensure the module is facing correctly as you secure it with special tool #9340. Reattach the left side electrical connector, place the plastic access cover over it and next, fold the seat pad back and insert the lower seat cushion at the back. Fill the tank with fuel, hook the negative battery cable back up and scan the car while pushing the pressure on the fuel system to look for specific problems.
