To start with, detach the negative battery cable and take off the generator and accessory drive belt. To fit the INA decoupler, insert Special Tool #8823 (VM.1048) into place and check the end of the generator shaft; if hex-shaped, use a 10 MM deep socket, otherwise if it has a spline, use either a 5/16" 6-point hex driver or a 10 MM 12-point triple square driver. Turn the tool clockwise to break the decoupler free and after that unthread it manually. To work on the Litens decoupler, also unplug the negative battery cable and take off the generator and belt, then enter Special Tool #8433 into the decoupler and line it up with the generator's hex end. After that, turn the tool so the notches face clockwise and unscrew the decoupler by hand. Install the INA decoupler by hand-threading the pulley onto the generator shaft, positioning Special Tool #8823 (VM.1048) and using the usual socket or driver. To tighten the bolts, use a torque wrench set to the correct torque numbers and turn in the opposite direction to finish. After that, put on the accessory drive belt and generator and reconnect the negative battery cable. When using a Litens decoupler, use the same threading and tool placement, plus the specified torque wrench and procedures.
