Lift the vehicle on a hoist and then place the battery negative lead in the engine compartment. With a fastener, connect the battery negative cable to the transmission housing and tighten the bolt to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Put in each battery cable retaining pushpin, fastener or routing clip, one by one, until the cable is where it belonged, then bring down the vehicle. Following that, fasten the battery negative cable to the side of the right front strut tower, then join the battery negative cable, putting on the spare tire cover next. For the rear area, slide the negative battery cable into place, secure it with a fastener to the body and attach the spare tire cover. As you connect the battery positive cable to the bulkhead, use the floor cross members as a guide, slip the bulkhead insulator aside and install the positive cable at the bulkhead fastener. Return the insulator to its initial place, secure the positive cable on the routing clips found in the rear seat and compartment and then slide the carpet back into place. Attach the proper panel for the B-pillar lower trim, as well as the right front and rear door sill trim panels, together with the right rear seat cushion, so their retainer loops are properly engaged. Install the front seat after that and then fasten the red battery cable to the rear PDC fastener and cover the PDC. Connect the positive and negative battery cables first and then put on the spare tire cover. Secure the battery positive cable for the engine compartment to the routing clips provided behind the engine for the 2.7L and 3.5L models and to the routing clip on the back of the starter for the 5.7L model. After connecting the positive battery cable to both fasteners, put on the right front wheelhouse splash shield and drop the vehicle down.
