While you remove the floor console assembly, keep it away from the SRS-ECU and its parts. Pull off the lever pin, disconnect the air outlet change-over damper cable and use flippers or a flat-tipped screwdriver to remove the boss and clamp. For the installation, first attach the boss and clamp, then attach a new heater control assembly to the instrument panel. Turn the temperature control knob on the assembly that operates the heater to its highest (MAX) position. HOT and turn the lever of the air mix damper at the heater unit to MAX. Don't forget to HOT the cable before driving it to the lever pin. Point the arrow on the top of the zipper toward the back and take the clip up along the zipper bar until it is stuck down tight. Turn the air outlet change-over knob on the heater control assembly to DEF, turn the lever on the air outlet change-over damper of the heater to DEF and finally connect the cable to the rotating pin, fastening the outer cable once more. After all, switch the inside/outside air change-over lever in the heater to air-recirculation, set the inside/outside air change-over damper lever in the blower to recirculate air and attach the cable to the damper lever pin just like the hose last time.
