Getting rid of any debris in the knuckle's bearing bore begins with drying it with a shop towel. Hold the knuckle in an arbor press, using Cup and Special Tool 6310-1 and insert the NEW wheel bearing, magnetic encoder ring down, so it is placed properly. With the larger inside diameter facing down, slide Special Tool 8498 over the outer part of the wheel bearing and put Disc Special Tool 6310-2 on top. Let the arbor press ram down and press the wheel bearing into the knuckle until it is flush with the knuckle. Once the old snap ring is out and your tools are put away, place a new one inside the knuckle using the snap ring pliers, to make sure it is seated properly. Get Remover/Installer, MB-990799 and the arbor press and correctly place your wheel's knuckle in the press, so that the Special Tool supports the knuckle from underneath, with its smaller end against the inner race of the wheel bearing. Insert the hub into the wheel bearing so that it's square with the inner race, then attach Special Tool 9712-2, also called Remover/Installer, in the end of the hub. Drop the arbor press ram down to press the hub into the wheel bearing until there's no more slack. When you have taken out the tools and knuckle from the press, spin the hub to make sure it rotates evenly and smoothly before reattaching the knuckle on the vehicle.
