This sensor is commonly known as the crash sensor responsible for the identification of impacts and triggering the control unit to inflate the air bags aiming at increasing passenger safety during an accident. The Air Bag Sensor has been incorporated in several Charger generations over the years owing to its dependability; every generation of the Air Bag Sensor is developed to heighten the sensitivity of the air bag system in the Charger model. An item ubiquitous in the automobile market is the Dodge Charger; the Air Bag Sensor has had a graceful modification to fit both the older and new models of the car. This adaptability does not only affect in increasing the effectiveness of the air bag deployment system but also in strengthening the safety systems of the Dodge Charger. Some of the distinctive characteristics of the Air Bag Sensor is that it has a small form factor and superior sensing mechanism among the vehicles. Since the performance outstanding capability is merged with the safety of the automobile, the Air Bag Sensor is an ideal representation of the brand. Dodge Charger Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Install an Air Bag Sensor for Front and Side Impact on Dodge Charger?
    A:
Fix the sensor into its correct place and hold it with the two supplied screws at 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.). After that, attach the electrical connector. Always install the air intake system when replacing the left front impact sensor. Be sure to mount the B-pillar side impact sensor correctly, attach both mounting screws to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.) and finally, connect the electrical connector before attaching the B-pillar trim panel. Secure the sensor properly for the C-pillar side impact in the correct spot, use torque for two screws to 7 Nm (62 in. lbs.), connect the harness to it and lastly install the trim panel. Just make sure you don't connect the battery negative cable until you have finished the system test, since doing so could endanger your safety.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair Air Bag Sensors on Dodge Charger?
    A:
Before beginning any work on impact sensors, detach the battery negative cable and allow the air bag reserve capacitor to discharge for two minutes, to stop the air bag from being deployed by accident. When replacing the left front sensor, take the air intake system out, remove the connector and unscrew the two mounting screws. To access the B-pillar side impact sensor, remove the B-pillar panel, detach the electric wiring and loosen the two screws. Unscrew both of the C-pillar retaining screws, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the C-pillar trim panel before starting to replace the sensor.
