The Dodge Dakota Turn Signal Switch is the lever on the steering column that lets the driver signal for a turn. Dodge turn signals are a feature of a car that assists in notifying other drivers about the car's movement or presence on the road ahead of time. The Turn Signal Switch is an electrical switch that activates the automobile turn signals. The Turn Signal Switch is located on the same assembly and can also have extra dials for switching on the headlamp, fog lamps, windshield wipers, and cruise control. This enables a Dakota operator to control several functions without taking a hand off the wheel. Every time the Turn Signal Switch generates a signal, other drivers expect some kind of movement. So, if this unit becomes worn or faulty, it can impact the Dodge pickup and other road users. Choosing a replacement requires matching the switch to the exact specification of the Dakota model to ensure that the connectors, mounting points, and multifunction controls fit. A Turn Signal Switch that works properly keeps the Dodge Dakota lighting system clear and predictable.

Dodge Dakota Turn Signal Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q:
How to Service and Repair a Turn Signal Switch on Dodge Dakota?
    A:
To service and repair the turn signal switch, first disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. If applicable, unscrew the lever from the tilt steering column adjuster mechanism located on the left side of the column just below the multi-function switch stalk by turning it counterclockwise. Remove both the upper and lower shrouds from the steering column, followed by the lower fixed column shroud. Move the upper fixed column shroud to access the back of the multi-function switch, then remove the tamper proof mounting screws using a Snap On tamper proof Torx bit TTXR20B2 or equivalent. Gently pull the multi-function switch away from the steering column to access and remove the screw securing the instrument panel wire harness connector to the multi-function switch connector receptacle, then disconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector. Remove the multi-function switch from the steering column. For installation, position the multi-function switch onto the steering column and reconnect the instrument panel wire harness connector to the multi-function switch connector receptacle. Install and tighten the screw securing the instrument panel wire harness connector to the multi-function switch connector receptacle to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.), then install and tighten the two screws securing the multi-function switch to the steering column to the same torque specification. Install the lower fixed column shroud, followed by both the upper and lower shrouds onto the steering column. If applicable, install the tilt steering column lever onto the left side of the steering column by screwing it into place, and finally reconnect the battery negative cable.
