Confirm the refrigerant oil level in the system is correct or the A/C could malfunction and the compressor may be damaged when you install the A/C accumulator. A new A/C system will not work well if the accumulator is not replaced following an internal fail of the compressor. When you only replace the A/C accumulator, put in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil. If new components are fitted in an air conditioner, look at the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to safely use the correct amount of oil. Never forget to install new seals and gaskets on your refrigerant line system following a disconnection, to avoid leaks. Secure the air-conditioner accumulator beside the right front frame rail, leaving the lower bolt easy to remove. Fasten the top part of the A/C suction line onto the right front frame rail using the suitable bolt and make sure both bolts are tight. Take out any tape or plugs you see from the refrigerant line fittings and accumulator port. After lubricating new O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil, install them together with gaskets on the lines for the R-134a system. Join the rear part of the A/C liquid line to the A/C accumulator and tighten it with the retaining nut until it reaches 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Yellow and Orange ports are closed, brown and green are open. Connect the bottom suction to the top and tighten the nut using 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) of force. Swing open the right front wheel house splash shield and allow the vehicle to sit on its own weight. Withdraw any plugs or tape from the fitting and condenser, apply clean refrigerant oil to a new O-ring seal, insert the seal and gasket into the fitting and fasten them there. Attach the liquid line to the tapping block, then tighten the securing nut to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). After connecting the negative
Battery Cable, don't start the engine if you have the vacuum pump running or A/C vacuum present, because this could damage the compressor. Open the cooling system and should the
A/C Condenser be replaced, remember to add 0.3 fluid ounce of refrigerant oil. Any time you change multiple components, make sure to use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil to add and select the recommended refrigerant oil for your A/C compressor. Once finished, fill up the A/C system.
