As the steering column is prepared for servicing, turn off the
Air Bag system to prevent injury from a sudden explosive release. Put the front of your car in a straight direction. First, unplug the negative
Battery Cable, let the front air bag system capacitor discharge for two minutes and then you can remove the
Steering Wheel and any other front air bag equipment. Get rid of the air bag for the driver. Lift the electrical connector from inside the speed control switch. Take out the screw at the front of the speed control switch. Both the Adaptive Cruise Control Switch and the Standard Passenger Speed Control Switch are the same size and shape, but only one can be used in the vehicle; remember what system is correct and use that switch. Activating the wrong switch turns off the Adaptive Cruise Control System's distance measurement which might result in injury. Unscrew the rear screws from the speed control switch and then take the switch out from the steering wheel.
