Dodge Magnum Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 2.7L Engine on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
Before servicing the fuel rail in a 2.7L engine, first release all fuel system pressure, use the vehicle in fresh air and keep away from any ignition sources or cigarette smoke. Unplug the negative cable from the battery, remove the Intake Manifold plenum and cover the intake manifold with something so particles won't reach the engine. Then, separate the fuel supply tube quick connect fitting from the fuel rail at the back and disconnect the electrical plug from each Fuel Injector by pushing the red slider away and, while pressed, depressing the tab to pull free. The factory wiring harness is tagged with association to the injector position. If that tag is missing, be sure to remember the injector's existing wiring spot before removing it. Lift up the fuel rail by undoing the bolts on each end and lifting the rail straight out of the fuel rail holes. Remember to take out the retaining clips from the fuel injectors at the fuel rail and take the injectors out of the fuel rail after that.
  • Q: How to install a Fuel Rail on a 2.7L Engine on Dodge Magnum?
    A:
Before installing the fuel rail, lubricate the Fuel Injector O-rings with a bit of clean engine oil. After that, put the retaining clips on each fuel injector and push the injectors back into the fuel rail so that the clips are lined up properly. Bring the fuel rail into position over the cylinder heads and fasten it by tightening its bolts to torque indicated by the manufacturer. Connect the quick connect part of the fuel supply tube to the fuel rail, then fix the electrical connectors onto the fuel injectors. Following this, put on the intake manifold plenum and link the negative cable to the battery. Finally, force the fuel system to imitate driving by using the scan tool and looking for any leaks.
