The first step in servicing or repairing fuel injectors is to make sure you release the fuel system pressure since it is always under pressure. Remove the
Intake Manifold plenum by first taking out the negative
Battery Cable and covering the intake manifold so dirt doesn't find its way in. Detach the fuel supply tube's quick connect fittings at the back of the intake manifold and if the injector connectors do not have labels, write down which one is for each cylinder. Remove the connectors from the fuel injectors and then take out their mounting bolts on the
Fuel Rail, so you can lift the rail off the cylinder. Take off the retaining clips and pull out the injectors; examine the O-rings to see if they're damaged and replace them if so, then install new injector clips as well. After you lube the O-rings slightly with clean oil, set the retaining clips on the injectors and press them onto the fuel injector rail until the clips attach properly. Situate the fuel rail onto the cylinder head and press it in, holding it while you tighten the mounting bolts to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.). Link the quick connect fittings for the fuel supply tube to the fuel injectors, connect the electrical cables to the injectors, place the intake manifold plenum in its spot and link the negative battery cable again. When you're done, use the scan tool to pressurize the fuel system and watch for leakage.
