The front steering knuckle is removed after supporting the vehicle, separating the wheel and tire and adjusting the suspension. Remove the power connections from the ABS wheel speed sensor. Then, free the tie rod rod end nut off the ball stud and use Ball Joint Remover 9360 to take out the tie rod ball stud from the knuckle. On 4X4 cars, you need to take off the halfshaft nut. After taking off the upper ball joint nut, separate the ball joint from the knuckle using Ball Joint Remover 9360, but be careful not to rupture the ball joint seal as you pull 8677. Lift the outboard section of the bottom control arm which will support the vehicle. Then, unthread the nut on the lower ball joint and pry it loose from the knuckle with the Ball Joint Remover 8677 device. Afterwards, disconnect the steering knuckle from the vehicle and if required, slide off the hub/bearing and dust shield by removing the three retaining bolts and lifting out the hub/bearing, then removing the dust shield.

First, place the hub/bearing on the steering knuckle and tighten the bolts to 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). Then, put the knuckle into place on both upper and lower ball joints and tighten the nuts as follows: upper to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and lower to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). With the hydraulic jack out of the lower arm, fasten the tie rod end and turn the nut to a torque of 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.). If you have them, put in the ABS wheel speed sensor, along with the brake shield, rotor and caliper. As the final step, attach the wheel and tire assembly, take out the support, lower the car and have a wheel alignment performed.
