  Q: How to remove and install the ignition coil mounted on the engine cylinder head on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?

  This device which is epoxy filled, gets mounted to a bracket fastened to the front of the right engine cylinder head and the whole setup rests atop the automatic belt tensioner bracket using just common bolts. Before taking out the ignition coil, cut the connection between the primary wires and the secondary spark plug. Removing the coil mounting bracket-to-cylinder head mounting bolts is not safe, as the belt is under tension, so remove all belt tension first if you have to do so. Unattach the ignition coil from the bracket after the car is no longer connected to the engine by loosening two mounting bolts. For installation, make sure the ignition coil is secured to the coil bracket and tighten the bolts at 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) if they are present or else tighten them at 5 Nm (50 in. lbs.). Connect all the wires again to the ignition coil.
