Dodge Ram 1500 Van MAP Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the MAP sensor on the throttle body on Dodge Ram 1500 Van?
    A:
You first have to remove the engine cover and the air cleaner by loosening the bolts to get at the L-shaped MAP sensor on the front of the throttle body. Upon doing that, take out the electrical connector and remove the two bolts attaching it. After removing the L-shaped hose from the throttle body, slide it off the sensor and take it out. For installing, connect the rubber piece to the MAP sensor, aim the sensor toward the throttle body and then move the fitting to the vacuum port and fix it with the bolts-all this after tightening them to 3 Nm (25 in. lbs.) torque. Backdating the assembly, attach the electrical connector again, set the air cleaner back in and return the engine cover to its original spot.
