Your power steering fluid should either be Mopar Power Steering Fluid or an alternate option; do not use automatic transmission fluid and do not overfill the pump. Be sure to clean the filler cap before checking the level in the fluid bottle which should read Cold at normal temperatures. Fully rotate the steering wheel to the left, fill the pump fluid reservoir up to the right level and wait for two minutes before using the pump. Lift the front wheels and turn the steering wheel back and forth all the way 20 times if the return lines are short or oil coolers aren't present; turn it 40 times if they are in either of these vehicles. Turn up the engine and watch the fluid level while the engine idles. Drop the front wheels down and run the engine at idle for two minutes, then rotate the steering wheel in all directions to ensure the pump is quiet and offers good support. If the fluid looks very foamy or milky, allow the vehicle to stand for some time and start over again with the procedure. Limit running the vehicle with foaming brake fluid, since it could harm the pump.
