Before operating on the seat belt in the driver's seat, disconnect the battery negative cable and allow for the air bag system capacitor to discharge for two minutes. Examine all seat belts, their buckles, hardware and retractors for correctness and replace if you notice cuts or tears. Verify that any twisted belts return to their original state. Secure any rusty or loose fasteners and replace any belt with frayed or unusable buckles, retractors, latch or anchor plates, only with quality, undamaged Mopar parts. Disconnection from the car should involve pulling the battery's negative cable, pulling back and unsnapping the front shoulder belt turning loop cover and removing the screw holding the turning loop on to the height adjuster. Take out the turning loop, anti-rattle washer, seat belt switch and tensioner pigtail wire connector and remove the screw joining the retractor to the inboard side of the B-pillar. Set the B-pillar side shoulder belt over and plug in the retractor just below the inside front edge, so the locating tab aligns with the locating hole. Use a 40 Nm (29 ft. lbs.) screw to secure the retractor, connect the seat belt switch and tensioner, put the anti-rattle washer and shoulder belt loop in place and screw the loop tight with 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). Lastly, cover the trim piece over the front shoulder belt turning loop anchor plate and wait to attach the battery negative cable until the air bag system verification test is performed following service to any part of the air bag system.
