How to Remove the Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before taking out the windshield washer reservoir, make sure the battery negative cable is disconnected. Transfer the washer fluid from the washer reservoir into a clean container which you can use again once it's restored. After that, take the grille out of the front of the car. Remove the two screws that are holding the inboard washer reservoir mounting brackets on the Front End Module (FEM) carrier just left of the cooling module. Lift the washer reservoir to disconnect both mounting tabs on the outboard side from the slotted loops on the FEM carrier. Start by removing the FEM wire harness connector from the top of the motor and following by disconnecting the reservoir washer hose from the pump outlet nipple. Remove the washer tube and wires from the path they travel beside the reservoir in the front. Rotate away the back of the washer reservoir from the FEM carrier to detach the FEM wire harness connector from the washer fluid level switch receptacle. Pull away the washer reservoir on the left side of the FEM carrier.

How to Maintain a Windshield Washer Fluid Reservoir on Dodge Ram 1500?

First, pull up the hood and release the latch, then wiggle loose and remove the negative battery terminal. Unfasten the coolant recovery container or coolant pressure container from the top of the cooling module and then move it near the front of the car, so you don't drain the engine cooling system. Take the reservoir washer hose off the barbed nipple of the inline fitting where it connects to the engine compartment washer hose in the right headlamp and dash wire harness so the fluid can drain into a clean container for you to use it again. After that, unplug the right headlamp and dash wire harness connector that goes to the washer fluid level switch and the washer pump/motor unit connector. With both hands on the reservoir's bottom, pull it quickly upward which releases the locking connector from the shroud on the radiator and then carry on lifting to remove the reservoir from the engine compartment after disengaging the three tabs with the slots in the radiator. Set the washer reservoir into the proper location on the right engine side behind the air filter housing. Insert each of the three mounting tabs into the matching slots on the bottom of the engine and keep pushing the reservoir down until it automatically locks into place. Return the harnesses at the headlamps and dash to their proper place for the washer pump motor and level switch and then continue with the reservoir washer hose. Replace the coolant recovery container or coolant pressure container and fix everything using the original fasteners. Add the fluid you saved back to the washer reservoir, attach the negative battery cable and put the hood back in place.
