To start, raise the vehicle and make sure it's supported, then take out the cotter pins and nuts holding the tie-rod end, idler arm and pitman arm. Unfasten the outer tie-rod end from the steering arm, the inner from the center link and remove the idler arm from the center link. After that, take the bolts from the idler arm mounting on the frame brackets and pull out the arms. Unscrew the drag link ball studs out of both the center link and pitman arm. Now, take the nut off the steering gear and remove the pitman arm using the Remover C-4150A. When installing the idler arms, insert them and tighten the retaining nuts to 155 Nm (115 ft. lbs.). After that, place the center link onto the idler arm ball studs, hold it in place using a nut torqued to 64 Nm (47 ft. lbs.) and insert the new cotter pins. Install the tie-rod end ball studs using the steering knuckle arms and center link and tighten the ball stud nuts with 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) (LD 9/16 nuts) or 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.) (HD 5/8 nuts). Install the pitman arm onto the steering gear, secure it with a nut tightened to 251 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Then, attach the drag link to the pitman arm and center link, screw the nuts in until they are tight and add new cotter pins. Also, take out the supports and roll the vehicle off the jack, checking and changing toe angle if it has moved during the lift.
