To service or repair the outer tie rod end, make sure your vehicle is lifted and secured. Withdraw the cotter pin and retaining nut from the ball stud at the tie-rod end, then disconnect the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle or center link with Puller C-3894-A. After that, undo the tie-rod sleeve clamp bolts and take out the tie-rod end from the sleeve. First, put the tie-rod end into the sleeve and then attach it to the steering knuckle arm or center link. With the break-in torque, fasten the nut to 75 Nm for the LD 9/16 ball stud and 102 Nm for the HD 5/8 ball stud and don't forget to insert a cotter pin afterward. When you're done, stand the vehicle up, lower it and check the toe angles on the wheels.
