  Q: How to service and repair the rocker arm assembly on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?

  Before working on the rocker arm assembly, remove the cylinder head cover and its gasket. After that, bring out the rocker arm bolts and pivots, laying them on a bench in the same order you removed them and then do the same with the push rods. Turn the crankshaft so the "V8" mark is lined up with the TDC mark on the timing chain case cover which is 147° from the first two marks. The unit fired from the No.1 position. Replace the push rods one by one, just as you removed them and then place in and tighten the rocker arm and pivot assemblies in the right order. Do not turn or rotate the engine during or up to 5 minutes after, installing the rocker arms; let the hydraulic roller tappets settle. The last step is to put in the cylinder head cover.
