Before beginning service or repair of the fuel rail, make sure all fuel system pressure is released, as it does not go down until the system is vented. Both fuel rails need to be changed as a full assembly and the connector tube, without clamps, should not be split; put no clamps on this tube. Before anything else, take off the rubber cap on the fuel filler tube and then do the pressure release on the fuel system. Loosen the negative
Battery Cable, remove the connecting flex tube from the air cleaner housing to the engine and remove the air resonator box at the
Throttle Body. After that, push the red slider on every
Fuel Injector to the side, compress the tab and unplug the connector from all of them. For easy identification, the injector position is marked on the factory fuel injection wiring harness. Take off all the electrical wires from the throttle body sensors and the fuel supply tube quick connect link at the fuel rail. Take out the four bolts connecting the fuel rails and their holddown clamps. Rock the fuel rail slowly and pull on the left fuel injector until those injectors can exit the machined holes and repeat the process on the other side. Remove the entire fuel rail with the injectors connected from your engine during the last step. If you need to remove the fuel injectors, use the instructions for fuel injector removal.
