  When looking after the A/C refrigerant system, checking the refrigerant oil level will help keep the system and the compressor safe. Should you replace more than one A/C component, turn to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to know how much oil is needed. Every time the A/C expansion valve is uninstalled, replace its O-ring seals to stop refrigerant from leaking. Remove any tape or plugs from each of the refrigerant lines, evaporator tube fittings and expansion valve ports in the beginning. Apply clean R-134a lubricant to the new rubber O-rings, insert the rings on the evaporator fittings and make sure to follow any guidelines for the R-134a system. Attach the A/C expansion valve onto the pipe coming from the evaporator tube tapping block with two bolts tightened to 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.). Be sure to lubricate any new O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil, then put the seals on the fitting of the refrigerant line, using only the exact ones and the recommended oil. Always line the tube ends carefully with the valve before you tighten the A/C line retaining nut to prevent any harm to the seal or tube end. Insert the A/C liquid line and the A/C suction line into the A/C expansion valve and tighten the nut until it reaches 6 Nm (53 in. lbs.). After that, hook back up the negative Battery Cable, drain the refrigerant, add the proper amount of oil, refill the refrigerant and finally install the air cleaner housing.

  Before servicing the rear expansion valve, get rid of any refrigerant from the A/C system and remove the negative Battery Cable. Take out the Dome Light from the rear of the roof by first undoing the connections on the roof and at the dome light end. After that, detach the six push-pin fasteners around the roof duct panel and take out the five screws which attach the rear evaporator to the front structure. When the vehicle is equipped, detach the motion sensor from the evaporator panel and take out its wire harness. Pull out all three of the fasteners near the back of the evaporator panel and take the panel off. Take off the liquid line from the rear expansion valve and the refrigerant line from the outlet port. Then, use plugs or tape to cover both the refrigerant line fittings and both the solenoid and expansion valve ports. Pull out the two bolts holding the expansion valve onto the rear evaporator tube tapping plate and take the valve away, leaving behind the seals in the tube fittings. Seal all open access points with some kind of tape or plug. First, unplug the tapes from the evaporator's inlet and outlet tube fittings and valve ports, put some clean refrigerant oil on the new O-ring seals and install the seals onto the terminals. Connect the rear expansion valve to the tapping plate fittings and hold it with the two bolts, tightening each one to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.). Uncover both fittings of the refrigerant line, slip the new O-ring seals on the liquid-line fittings and install the seals. Rejoin the liquid line between the rear expansion valve and the solenoid valve and then tighten the nuts to 16 N.m (142 in. lbs.). Use three push-pin fasteners to install the rear evaporator panel, connect the interior motion sensor if available and secure the panel with five screws at 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Use six push-pin fasteners to secure the roof duct panel, plug in the dome light wire harness and then set in the dome light. After that, plug in the battery negative cable, drain the refrigeration system and charge it properly.
