  Line the dowel pin on the compressor clutch field coil with the hole in the front of the A/C compressor and then put the field coil into place on the compressor. Make sure not to trap any wires while you are doing this. A snap ring, installed so that its bevel points out, should be used to secure the compressor clutch field coil, having the eyelets face to either the left or right of the dowel pin. With Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or the equivalent tool, add the required snap ring to secure the field coil and impact it firmly. Don't damage the inside parts of the pulley or bearing when installing them and use a bevel-side new snap ring to hold them in place. When replacing the original components, lay two or more shims on the compressor shaft; for new parts, use a stack of four shims 2.54 mm in thickness. Put the clutch plate near the front of the A/C compressor and tighten the bolt that holds the compressor shaft to 19 Nm. After tightening the studs, check the air leak at different spots; if it's less than 0.60 mm or more than 0.35 mm, adjust the shims as needed. Leave the compressor clutch field coil wire lead above the connector and then fit the connector onto the bracket. Mount the A/C compressor directly under the engine and use retaining bolts to secure it and then tie the engine wire harness cable to the air conditioner compressor clutch field coil joint. Set the vehicle down, fit the accessory Drive Belt and attach the negative Battery Cable again.

  Before removing and replacing the compressor clutch, you should first remove the negative Battery Cable. Following that, remove the Drive Belt from the accessory pulleys. Lift the car and take away the engine wire harness from the A/C compressor's clutch field coil connector on top. Get rid of the bolts that connect the A/C compressor to the engine and support the compressor. Take care to separate the compressor clutch field coil connector and wire lead away from the connector bracket. With your oil filter or strap wrench, keep the clutch plate from rotating as you remove the bolt that holds the compressor shaft. Be sure not to separate the clutch plate from the pulley and bearing assembly, as that could damage the clutch plate and be careful not to drop any clutch shim(s) as you work, as they can be utilized again when installing. Rap the clutch plate between five and six times with the mallet and it should lift off the splines on the compressor shaft. Then take out the clutch plate and any shims. To remove the pulley and bearing assembly, take out the snap ring securing it with pliers - either Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or equivalent. Lastly, use your Snap Ring Pliers 9764 or an equivalent type to take out the snap ring holding the compressor clutch field coil on the front of the A/C compressor and remove the coil.
