How to Ensure the Proper Functioning of a Harmonic Balancer on Your Jeep Cherokee?

Before servicing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, remove the negative cable from the battery. Take out the belt and cover found above the fan, then take out the screw and washer that hold the damper in place. Removal of the vibration damper from the crankshaft can be done with Vibration Damper Removal Tool 7697. To install, rub Mopar Silicone Rubber Adhesive Sealant on the keyway in the crankshaft and fit the key into place. Put the vibration damper key in the hub, match it with the key on the crankshaft and tap the damper onto the shaft. Attach the vibration damper retaining bolt and washer and tighten with 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.) of torque. Subsequently, fit the serpentine drive belt back and tighten it according to the instruction notes. In the end, secure the negative cable to the battery once again.
