Jeep Cherokee Power Steering Pressure Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Install a Power Steering Pressure Switch on Jeep Cherokee?
    A:
Unlike other models, 4.0L engines do not need a power steering pressure switch and this is placed in the high-pressure power steering hose instead. You should disconnect the wire connector from the switch before catching any extra oil with a small container or a shop towel. Use another wrench to hold the power steering line in place so that you don't bend the switch while removing it. To fit the switch, tighten it onto the power steering line to a torque of 14 - 22 Nm (124 - 195 in. lbs.). Check the fluid after connecting the electrical connector and add more if it's not at the proper mark. Once the engine is cranking, examine the power steering fluid and add some more if it's low.
