  Apply clean motor oil to the valve stem and slide it into the cylinder head. Once that's done, set the Valve Stem Seal 3 and confirm the tightly seated garter spring is sealed. After that, fit the spring and the spring retainer 2 in place. Set up the valve spring compressor and compress spring 6 while setting in retainer parts 1 and putting down retainer portion 2. After releasing the valve spring compressor, examine that both ends of the spring are resting against their beds. Apply clean oil to the Camshaft journal, attach the camshaft with left sprocket dowel at 11 o'clock and the right one at 12 o'clock and set the bearing caps in place. Mount the camshaft bearing cap retaining bolts and do up to 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.) in 1/2 turns one after the other, in the right order. After that, place the hydraulic lash adjusters and Rocker Arms in their appropriate positions.

  Removing and replacing a valve requires you to remove the cylinder heads at first. The first thing to do is take off the cylinder head covers and then removing the Rocker Arms and lash adjusters. Following that, loosen the Camshaft bearing caps and the camshaft. To loosen the locks on the valve retainer, lightly tap the top of the valve with the compressor arm and compress the spring with Tool 8519. Be careful when you unscrew the retainer lock rings as the mounting tension on the valve spring can be high. Following removal of the valve spring compressor, get rid of the spring and the retainer, clean the sharp edges of the keeper and remove any burrs from the valve stem. Intake and exhaust Valve Stem Seals are identical, so you should take them out and check the valve before installing. It's good practice to study and test the valve springs every time you take out the valves. Watch out for wear or damage in the valve springs and use Tool C-647 to pull the torque wrench until it pings. Count out 40.12 mm from the tool surface and check the reading twice. Replace the springs that have height or tension outside the specifications given.
