Jeep Commander Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is the Fuel Rail Installed on a 3.7L Engine on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Before putting the fuel rail on a 3.7L engine, ensure that the Fuel Injectors are ready. Wipe out the fuel injector slots in the Intake Manifold and put a touch of engine oil on each fuel injector O-ring. Place the fuel rail/injector assembly so that each injector fits perfectly into the machined openings in the cylinder head, with care not to harm the O-rings. Push down on the right part of the fuel rail until the fuel injectors are resting on the cylinder head until you can do the same for the left fuel rail. Attach the four fuel rail mounting bolts and fix them to the correct tightness using the fuel delivery torque provided in the manual. After that, place the six Ignition Coils, link the wires from the Throttle Body to the electrical connectors and seal the connections at all fuel injectors by tugging the wires lightly. Join the correct vacuum lines to the throttle body, install the two bolts for the air resonator bracket in front of the throttle and fit the fuel latch clip and fuel line to the fuel rail. Then, place the air box on the throttle body, link the Air Duct to the air box, fit the Battery Cable again, start the vehicle and search for leaks.
  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 3.7L Engine on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Before you begin, release the fuel system pressure because it stays under tension even when the engine isn't operating. Before anything else, take off the cap on the fuel tank feed tube and afterward, remove the negative Battery Cable. Following this, get rid of the Throttle Body Air Duct and air box and then remove the air resonator bracket with just two screws. Connect the fuel line to a disconnect tool and pull it away from the fuel rail and then remove any vacuum lines from the throttle body. Disconnect each of the six Fuel Injectors by pushing the red slider away and pressing down on the tab. Injectors should be tagged, so if that's not already done, I need you to tag them and note the wiring location if the tagging isn't there yet. In addition, disconnect all wiring from the throttle body sensors and remove the six Ignition Coils. Afterward, take out the four fuel rail mounting bolts. Rock and slide the left side of the fuel rail gently to remove each injector from the machined hole and then repeat for the right side until all are cleared. Now, detach both the fuel rail with its injectors from the engine. If fuel injectors have to be taken out, proceed using the proper steps for their removal.
