Jeep Commander Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install an Intake Manifold on Jeep Commander?
    A:
First, lay the intake manifold gaskets onto the manifold and then put the intake manifold into place. Place and tighten the retaining bolts for the intake manifold according to the correct sequence with a force of 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) After that, fit the Fuel Rail and the EGR tube and then place the top oil dipstick tube retaining bolt. It's important to tighten the Throttle Body correctly so it doesn't get damaged; install the throttle body-to-manifold O-ring and secure it to the intake manifold using the four 7 Nm bolts. Install the ignition coil towers and link the electrical links that connect the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and ignition coil towers. Once everything else is complete, put in the generator and the air conditioning compressor and tie on the Vapor purge, Brake booster and PCV hoses. Plug the ETC connector into the throttle body, top up the cooling system and use support fixture #8534 to raise the engine. Secure the engine mount to frame bolt with the right side engine mount, then take out the engine support fixture. Next, put in the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and then rejoin the negative cable to the battery.
  • Q: How to Remove an Intake Manifold on Jeep Commander?
    A:
You should perform the Fuel System Pressure Release procedure before you remove the intake manifold. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, undo all clamps attaching the resonator assembly and take out the air inlet hose. Remove electrical connections from the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor (2), vapor purge hose, brake booster hose and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. After that, take out the generator using part number 8534 and then remove the air conditioning compressor as well. Unplug the ETC connector off the Throttle Body (3) and remove the ignition coil towers as well. Pull out the bolt at the top of the oil dipstick tube, then remove the EGR tube (1), Fuel Rail and throttle body assembly (1). Drain off fluid below the level recommended by the coolant temperature and place the engine support fixture (1) under the engine. Unscrew the right side Engine Mount to frame bolt (3) and bring the engine down so that its mount fits inside the frame mount. To finish, take off the retaining fasteners on the intake manifold in the reverse order you loosened them.
