Jeep Commander Throttle Body is one of the significant components of the fuel injection system of different Jeep Commander models and functions as an Air Intake Damp for several vehicles. The Throttle Body is located between the air cleaner and intake manifold; it has the butterfly valve which opens or closes as the accelerator pedal message is received for prime air tract. This action is very necessary as it triggers the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to enable fuel injection to optimize performance as well as fuel efficiency by providing the prime proportion of air fuel mixture. Current Jeep Commander model with mechanical throttle control has replaced by the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) increasing the car's reliability and the compatibility of the car with safety systems. While the previous models can be found equipped with Throttle Body Injection (TBI), the up-to-date Jeep Commanders are equipped with the most powerful multi-port fuel injection systems that improve the engine characteristics. Significant parts form the Throttle Body such as Idle Air Control (IAC) valve and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) that aid in smooth running of the engine. It can be said that the maintenance of Jeep Commander Throttle Body should be carried out on the regular basis because their functions may be impacted by the dirt accumulated on the surface so they need to be cleaned or replaced. It is for this reason that the Jeep Commander Throttle Body that has carved a niche for itself in the automotive market guaranteeing that drivers enjoy optimal efficiency and safety on the road. This aspect of the Commander is very important in the Jeep line because it's compatible with the XK and the latest 2022 Meridian, thus making it a stable tool for any Jeep collection.

Jeep Commander Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Install a Throttle Body on a 3.7L Engine on Jeep Commander?
    A:
Start by checking the O-ring between the throttle body and Intake Manifold; if it's worn or damaged, replace it. After you have clean the mating surfaces on the throttle body and intake manifold, put the O-ring in between them. Place the throttle body against the intake manifold and tighten all the bolts that hold it down with your fingers. Tighten the bolts exactly as required, as overdoing it might harm the throttle body or the intake manifold. Attach the bolts to the mounting assembly in a cross pattern, making sure the torque wrench registers 7.5 Nm (65 in. lbs.). After that, install the electrical connector, the vacuum lines and the air cleaner duct at the throttle body. Then, attach the negative Battery Cable, use your scan tool to remove all old DTCs and do the ETC Relearn procedure.
  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on Jeep Commander?
    A:
First, take out the air filter tube from the throttle body, next remove the electrical connectors from the IAC motor and TPS. Remove every control line attaching to the throttle body lever arm, disconnect the needed vacuum lines and remove the three mounting bolts. Once the throttle body is detached, check the state of the old O-ring at the meeting between the throttle body and the Intake Manifold. Check and change the O-ring that links the throttle body to the intake manifold when you are installing the throttle body. Wipe the pushing areas where the throttle body and intake manifold touch, then put the new O-ring in and fix the throttle body properly onto the manifold. Wrap the housings with the gasket, place the three mounting bolts in and tighten them to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque. After that, reattach the control cables, electrical connectors and required vacuum lines and then put in the air plenum.
