How to Replace Hood Hinges Without Removing the Hood on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

There is no need to lift the hood-just one hinge can be replaced at a time. Draw the spot for the hood hinge on the area where the hood and body join with a grease pencil. Give the sheet metal support found on the hood and then take out the support cylinder. Take out the bolts that attach the hood hinge to the fender and to the hood. To mount the hood, first match the hood hinge with the reference marks you made and then install the bolts just snug enough so they are tightened to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Afterwards, put the bolts that join the hood hinge to the fender rail into place and fasten them to 12 N.m (9 ft.lbs.). At this point, fit the support cylinder and if the hood needs it, adjust it to the appropriate alignment.

How to install a hood hinge on Jeep Wrangler?

Press the hinge onto the hood and then secure it with the bolts left loose. Position the hinges according to your installation marks and bolt down with a force of 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.). After that, put the hinge to body bolts in their holes and check that the hinges still fit the first alignment marks, then tighten the bolts to 24 Nm (17.5 ft. lbs.). When required, move the hood to the proper setting and then start putting in the cowl top panel.
