How to Service a Seat Switch on Jeep Cherokee?

Before anything else, disconnect the negative cable of the battery to service the power seat switch. After that, take out the three screws keeping the side shield in place on the outboard cushion frame, then pull off the shield to open the wire harness connector to the power seat switch. Take the connector off the power seat switch and remove the side shield on the seat. Remove both screws that join the power seat switch to the inner side shield of the seat cushion before taking out the switch. When installing, work backwards through the removal guide and make sure the mounting screws are fastened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.).

How to Perform a Seat Switch for the Driver's Seat on Jeep Grand Cherokee?

You should first separate the negativeside of the battery when changing the driver seat switch. For those with a ten-way seat system, carefully use a trim stick or wide thin tool to pry off the power seat and power recliner switch knobs from the switch stems. After removing the three outboard seat cushion side shield screws, pull the shield away to reach the power seat switch wire harness connector. Unplug the wire harness connector on the power seat from the power seat switch connector receptacle. Remove next the two screws that hold the power seat switch against the inside of the outboard cushion side shield and then take out the switch. First, put the new switch onto the outboard side of the seat cushion shield, then put in and tighten both screws to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.). After that, join the wire harness connector from the power seat to the switch connector receptacle, move the side shield onto the seat cushion frame and tighten the screws into place with about 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.). For cars equipped with the ten-way power seat, put the switch knobs for these controls on top of the switch stems and push them until you hear them snap it. Then, fasten the battery negative cable back onto its post.
