This Ball Joint is duly used in Jeep Liberty vehicles in two main capacities namely suspension and steering system where it connects the control arms with the steering knuckles. This component has ability to rotate in radial and circumferential plane for responding the road condition and steering wheel inputs. Normally made of steel, the Jeep Liberty Ball Joint comprises a bearing stud and socket, which is covered by rubber boot to keep away dust and to ensure that the joint is lubricated. Some of the known Ball Joints of Jeep Liberty includes the Load-Bearing Ball Joint and the Non Load-Bearing Ball Joint. Load-bearing Ball Joints are used mainly to provide support for weights in auto vehicles and Non-load bearing Ball Joints simply take care of the alignment in auto vehicles without supporting the weight. In the long run, the vehicle is bound to develop problems such as noise, among others, due to wear and inadequate lubrication, making the tire to wear abnormally and, therefore, requiring replacement. Part upgrades, which incorporate Ball Joints with height adjustability and complete Control Arm assemblies, exist for enhancing the vehicle's dynamic performance and adaptability, including applications such as Lift Kit kits.

Jeep Liberty Ball Joint Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove a Ball Joint on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
To remove the ball joint, begin by taking off the tire assembly, then take off the Brake Caliper and rotator. After that, separate the tie rod from the Steering Knuckle and take out the steering knuckle. If the vehicle has them, move each halfshaft to the side and rest them aside to get them out of the way. For a tool to operate well and last long during removal and installation, the threaded portions must be lubricated with intense pressure oil. Hold the steering knuckle in a vise and take off the ball joint boot. Also, press on the ball joint of the steering knuckle using special tools C-4212-F, 8859-2 and 8859-1.
  • Q: How to Install a Ball Joint on Jeep Liberty?
    A:
It is important to apply a lot of lubrication to the threaded areas of the tool to help it last and function smoothly during both removal and installation. The cover of the shipping plastic must be secured over the boot before you press the ball joint into the knuckle. Fit the ball joint into the Steering Knuckle by using special tools C-4212-F (press), 8859-3 (driver) and 6761 (receiver). Then, if you have the equipment, take out the existing support for the halfshaft and fit it where it belongs. Following that, install the steering knuckle and the Tie Rod End into the steering knuckle. Compress the halfshaft nut to a torque of 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and after that, fit the Brake Caliper and rotor. In final, place the newly equipped tire and wheel onto the vehicle.
