How to Safely Remove and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on Jeep Liberty?

Before you start working on the Air Door Actuator/Motor, disconnect the negative battery cable, wait two minutes for the capacitor to empty and then disable the air bag system on cars that have them. Pull out the instrument panel from the vehicle to start. After that, take out the vacuum line harness connector from the recirculation door actuator. Undo the latch keeping the recirculation door actuator (2) attached to the top of the housing (3) and disconnect the actuator. Disconnect the recirculation door actuator from the recirculation door lever (4) and take out the actuator from the vehicle.

How to Install a Blend Door Actuator on Jeep Liberty?

Place the blend door actuator on the driver-side mounting bracket in the air distribution housing, so that the actuator's shaft fits into the linkage and if the splines need to be aligned, slightly turn the actuator. Attach the blend door actuator to the actuator mounting bracket by screwing them in with two screws and tightening them gently to reach 1.2 Nm (10 in lbs.). Attach the harness of the connector to the blend door actuator. Should your vehicle support a silencer, it should go below the driver's side of the instrument panel. Attach the negative battery cable again and access the Actuator Calibration function in a scan tool.
