Now, set the A/C liquid and suction line in place, take off any protective tape or plugs from the refrigerant connectors and
Evaporator ports and add just enough clean refrigerant oil on the rubber o-rings of the new dual-plane seals that were purchased for use on R-134a systems before installing them onto the A/C system line fittings. Link the assembly to the A/C evaporator, tighten the bolt to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) and don't forget about the retainers on RHD models for the power brake booster vacuum hose. Join the stabilizer of the refrigerant line bracket to the right front strut tower with a nut, following the instructions for 4.5 Nm (40 in. lbs.) and secure all reservoirs: the windshield washer, power steering and engine coolant ones. Put the heat shield onto the dash panel studs and tighten the three nuts to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Hold up the vehicle, remove the tape or any plugs from the liquid line and condenser port, add clean refrigerant oil to the new rubber O-ring seal, fit the new gasket over the liquid line and then tighten the fitting onto the A/C condenser after mounting, making sure to use just 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) of torque. Attach the
A/C Accumulator, lower the vehicle to normal level, plug back in the negative
Battery Cable, remove the remaining refrigerant, check and add refrigerant oil if necessary and charge the air conditioning system. Put the lower A/C suction line in the engine compartment, open the suction line fitting and compressor endings by removing their tapes or plugs, coat a new rubber O-ring seal with clean refrigerant oil and insert it between the fitting and the gasket. Afterward, connect the suction line to the compressor and fasten it with a nut set at 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Take out the tape or plugs from the suction line fitting and the accumulator port, lubricate a new seal with oil, put in both the new seal and gasket onto the suction line fitting and only after that attach it to the accumulator and tighten the nut to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.). Line up the front of the right wheel house splash shield to the body, fit three retainer clips and lock three screws, then fit the right front wheel, get the vehicle off the jacks and reconnect the negative battery cable. Run the engine with no vacuum present and do not use a vacuum pump during the process, then extract the refrigerant, set the correct oil level in the A/C compressor and charge the A/C system.
