Jeep Patriot Wiper Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Install and Align a Wiper Switch on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
You should disable the SRS by unplugging the negative cable from the battery and waiting two minutes after which the system capacitor will be cleared. Place the multi-function switch near the bracket fastened to the pocket on the Clock Spring's right side and join the jumper wire harness to the connector circuit on the front of the switch assembly. Place the tabs of the switch over the shaped areas on the Clock Spring bracket and slide until it is firmly seated. Attach and secure the mounting tab from the right multi-function switch to the Clock Spring bracket using a screwdriver and tighten the screw to 1 Nm (10 in. lbs.). Fix the upper and lower shrouds back onto the steering column and attach the negative Battery Cable.
  • Q: How to Safely Service and Disassemble a Wiper Switch on Jeep Patriot?
    A:
Disconnect the negative cable to your car battery, then wait for two minutes for the battery systems to discharge, as SRS must be disconnected before you handle the wiper switch. Start by taking off the shrouds on both the top and the bottom of the steering wheel. After that, take out the screw attaching the right multi-function switch to the mounting bracket on the right side of the Clock Spring. Slide the switch along the same side of the Clock Spring to detach the slide tabs on the housing from the grooves in the mounting bracket. Break the connection between the jumper wire harness connector and the connector receptacle on the right near multi-function switch, then disconnect the switch from the Clock Spring.
