Jeep Release Bearing Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair a release bearing on Jeep Wrangler?
    A:
You should begin by removing the transmission when serving and repairing the clutch release bearing. Just below, remove release bearing 1 from release fork 2 and pull it out after the previous change. Look at the slide surface of the transmission front bearing retainer and if there are scores, wearing or cracks, change the retainer. It is important to check the release fork and the fork pivot. The pivot should be safe and the fork should be straight and not broken from regular use. When the release fork retainer spring is bent or harmed, you should replace it.
