In case the bearing slide on the transmission front retainer has scratches, cracks or is worn out, go ahead and replace the retainer. Also, examine the release fork and fork pivot to make sure the pivot is tight and not worn and that the fork does not have any dents or dings. A bent or wrecked release fork retainer spring should be replaced.
