How to Remove the Blower Motor from the Bottom of the Passenger Side HVAC Housing Without Detaching the Housing on Jeep Wrangler?

To access the blower motor underneath the passenger side of the HVAC housing, disconnect the negative battery cable as safety. Once you have pulled back the instrument panel, remove the instrument panel wire harness connector (3) from the blower motor (4) found underneath. Now, unwind the last three screws (2) connecting the blower motor to the base of the HVAC unit (1) and bring out the blower motor.

First, take the battery out from its tray to work on the blower motor. After that, remove the three screws holding the PCM to its bracket and lift the PCM away from the blower motor area. Disconnect the blower motor wire harness and with a screwdriver, remove the three screws that keep the blower motor and wheel attached to the heater-A/C compartment. Manipulate the power unit by rotating and tilting it, as needed, to clear a path for removing it. For the installation, place both the blower motor and the wheel into the heater-A/C housing, use the three screws to attach them and tighten them to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Attach the blower motor wire harness connector to where it belongs, place the PCM on the dash panel mount and use three screws to secure it. Lastly, put the battery back into the battery tray.
