Clean the gasket area on the rear of the cylinder head and EGR valve before you install the EGR Valve. Then, set an EGR valve gasket (2) and securely fasten the EGR valve (1) at the back of the cylinder head using the rear EGR valve mounting bolts (3) which need to be hand-tightened first, then tightened to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.). If your vehicle uses an automatic transmission, hoist it and secure it. Attach the bolt (1) connecting the transmission fluid level indicator tube, tighten it to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.). After connecting the electrical connector (2) to the EGR valve (1), install the tray (1) that holds the right bank ignition wires to the valve studs and link each wire to the corresponding spark plug (1, 3 and 5). Last, put on the upper intake manifold and EGR tube and secure the negative battery cable after tightening the nut to 5 Nm (45 in. lbs.).
