How to Install a Sway Bar Bushing for the Front Suspension on Jeep Wrangler?

First, clean the bushing and sway bar with soapy water and then slip both (3) bushing ends onto the lower part of the sway bar. Following this, place the rear retainer bracket (2) and make sure the 1 shear plate bracket has the downturned part facing forward as you slot it into position. If you do not see any broken retaining tabs (1) on the bracket, use care to bend them back where they once were; if they have separated, it does not matter since they are only used during factory set up. Place the sway bar on the vehicle, then fasten the sway bar link to axle bolt while the car is sitting on its tires. Attach the brackets from the right side sway bar and tighten their bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs) and then do the same for the left side. Afterward, put on the splash shield. Then, fit the upper sway bar link nut over the sway bar and tighten it down to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs). You should now install the left lower sway bar link bolt to the axle and tighten it to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs), while tightening the left upper sway bar link nut to the sway bar, to the same tightness. Lastly, take out the support and lower down the car.

Put in the splash shield afterward and then attach the right upper sway bar link nut to the sway bar; tighten the nut to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs.) Replace the lower left sway bar link bolt into the axle and put in the 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs) torque and then fit the left upper sway bar link nut to the bar and make it tight with 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs) torque. When you are done, remove the support and bring the vehicle down.

Put in the splash shield afterward and then attach the right upper sway bar link nut to the sway bar; tighten the nut to 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs.) Replace the lower left sway bar link bolt into the axle and put in the 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs) torque and then fit the left upper sway bar link nut to the bar and make it tight with 61 Nm (45 ft.lbs) torque. When you are done, remove the support and bring the vehicle down.
